KAZAKHSTAN FEARS REPETITION OF KYRGYZ "EXPERIENCE"

RIA Novosti

ASTANA, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - Two largest political parties in Kazakhstan urged to consolidate efforts to prevent the possibility of unconstitutional forms of actions and forestall the attempts of external forces to influence the political situation inside the country.

"An act of forcible state coup has been committed in Kyrgyzstan. The next stage of the political standoff might be a fratricidal war," says a joint statement adopted by the Agrarian party and the Civil party.

The Kazakh political parties believe that "the path chosen by Kyrgyz opposition leads to a political deadlock, and the forcible removal of current authorities will throw the country into a state of chaos and anarchy."

"We are certain that the events in Kyrgyzstan have been played out according to a scenario written and directed by external forces," the statement emphasizes.

According to political parties, the difference between the Kyrgyz scenario and the events in Georgia or Ukraine "is that here, for the first time on the territory of former Soviet republics, the existing authorities are ousted according to a forcible scenario, including the use of violence."

"There are no reasons to neglect the possibility that such scenarios can be applied to our country, as well," the statement warns.

In that respect, the leaders of both parties appealed to all power branches in Kazakhstan to take all possible measures to prevent similar developments in the republic.

In addition, they urged "all sensible and progressive forces in the country that cherish authentic principles of democracy and freedom to unite into a people's democratic front in order to prevent the possibility of unconstitutional forms of actions and forestall the attempts of external forces to influence the political situation inside the country."

Both parties consider their main task at this stage is "to ensure and protect the right of Kazakh citizens to express their free will during the upcoming elections."
