KYRGYZSTAN: RUSSIAN AIR BASE BUILDS UP RIOT SECURITY
RIA Novosti
MOSCOW, March 24 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian Air Force base in Kant, not far from the Kyrgyz capital, is building up safety against raging riots, Army General Yuri Baluyevsky, Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, said to the media.
"There is no reason for now to expect violence against Russian soldiers-but we shall do what is necessary to protect them. In fact, we have done something even now.
"Not only Russians but other countries' nationals are endangered in Kyrgyzstan. We hope the doped riotous mob will not fully destabilize our neighbor country and member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization," said the general.
