OPPOSITION SETS FREE 60 PRISONERS IN JALAL-ABAD
BISHKEK, March 23 (RIA Novosti, Yuliya Orlova) - Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Justice has confirmed that the opposition set some 60 prisoners free from temporary custody in Jalal-Abad.
There were recidivists among the released prisoners, the press secretary of the Main Punishment Execution Department at the Kyrgyz Ministry of Justice reported.
At the same time the source noted that the situation in detention centers in the south of Kyrgyzstan remains normal and protestors have made no attempts on pretrial detention centers in Jalal-Abad and Osh.
The press secretary added that law enforcement authorities keep the situation in regional pretrial detention centers under control, and no unrest has been registered among prisoners.
There are large pretrial detention centers in Jalal-Abad and Osh, where besides persons under investigation, severe offenders are kept.
