AKAEV: OPPOSITION IS FINANCED FROM ABROAD
BISHKEK, March 22 (RIA Novosti) - President of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akaev has accused the opposition of getting funds from abroad.
"Unfortunately, our republic has, too, been faced with dangerous destructive actions of the irreconcilable opposition, which are doing damage to the interests of our people. Society should create an atmosphere of intolerance to the actions of those who, guided by foreign directives and at the expense of foreign money, are doing damage to the interests of their people", he said in parliament.
To him, oppositionists are making belligerent attempts at post-election destabilization of the internal situation in the country up to the use of force in seizing state institutions, closing traffic on the key roads and instigating the population to disobey the laws.
Akaev stressed that the law-enforcement organs, guided by the constitution and laws of Kyrgyzstan, will go on giving "due rebuff to such attempts and act with high responsibility", doing "everything possible in order to prevent victims".
Actions of protest continue in the sough of Kyrgyzstan. They are organized by supporters of candidates defeated at the elections. Those supporters demand canceling the results of parliamentary elections.
