Improvised explosive device found and
destroyed
FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq - Soldiers of the 155th
Brigade Combat Team, attached to the I Marine Expeditionary Force,
responded to a report of a possible improvised explosive device
north of Forward Operating Base Kalsu March 14.
The Soldiers located the IED and explosive ordnance disposal
personnel destroyed it in place.
Local civilians at the scene provided Soldiers with information
about the possible IED makers responsible for the device. A hasty
cordon and search was performed on two houses near the site.
Numerous documents and possible IED making materials were seized as
a result. They were taken back to FOB Kalsu to be evaluated. Five
people were detained and transported to be questioned about the
incident.
