MASKHADOV'S ARCHIVE FOUND
GROZNY, March 9 (RIA Novosti) - The Federal Security Service's special forces have found the archive of separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov inside his bunker. This was disclosed to RIA Novosti by Ilya Shabalkin, spokesman for the regional command center that supervises the North Caucasian counter-terrorist operation.
Firearms, military hand grenades and homemade hand grenades, several kilograms of explosives, radio stations, two laptops, an Ichkerian flag, Maskhadov's suicide bomber belt, as well as his personal archive, were removed from the bunker, Shabalkin stressed. Experts have already started analyzing that archive, Shabalkin went on to say.
The Federal Security Service's special forces units liquidated Maskhadov yesterday in the Grozny district's Tolstoi-Yurt village. Four of Maskhadov's cronies were arrested.
According to Shabalkin, Maskhadov was hiding inside a well-equipped bunker that had belonged to a man named Yusupov.
The authorities are promptly interrogating these arrested persons, Shabalkin noted in conclusion.
