
Lockheed Martin Awards L. Robert Kimball & Associates Presidential Helicopter Facility Design Contract
OWEGO, NY, March 2nd, 2005 -- Lockheed Martin has awarded the Ebensburg, PA-based architecture firm of L. Robert Kimball & Associates a contract to design the new presidential helicopter facility at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego. Work under this contract will begin immediately. The contract’s value is in excess of $1 million.
“We’re delighted to have Kimball & Associates on board so that we can move out quickly to design and build a state-of-the-art complex worthy of the next presidential helicopter,” said Stephen D. Ramsey, executive vice president for Helicopter Systems at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego.
Kimball & Associates has been charged to design the 176,000 square-foot presidential helicopter facility that will house the program’s administrative offices, systems integration laboratories, and an aircraft integration hangar. Construction of the facility will begin pending design completion and appropriate site preparation. The facility should be ready for occupancy in approximately one-year.
L. Robert Kimball & Associates is a full-service architectural and engineering firm with nearly 500 employees located in 15 regional offices. The company’s primary service areas include architecture, civil and environmental engineering, transportation design and planning, telecommunications and technology consulting, and mapping sciences.
Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego is the prime contractor and systems integrator for the U.S. Navy’s Presidential Helicopter Replacement (VXX) program. The US101 aircraft is an American variant of AgustaWestland’s successful EH101 multimission helicopter built from components provided by more than 200 suppliers in 41 states.
