INDONESIA TO GET MOBILE ARMY HOSPITAL FROM RUSSIA

RIA Novosti

JAKARTA, February 18, (RIA Novosti's Mikhail Tsyganov) - A Russian mobile army hospital will be presented to Indonesia in Banda-Aceh, the capital of the country's Aceh province (that suffered most of all as a result of the December 26, 2004 tsunami).

A special-purpose medical detachment arrived in Indonesia from Russia's Volga-Urals military district some time ago. Numerous Indonesian delegations, as well as representatives of international relief organizations, visited that hospital.

In their opinion, this is the only foreign hospital that can work all on its own.

The Russian medical detachment has 146 people. Twelve epidemiologists and infectionists from Moscow and St. Petersburg also serve with this hospital. All of them will return to Russia February 18-19.
