ATK Receives Orders Worth $54 Million For Tank Training Ammunition

ATK Total 120mm Production Now Exceeds 3.5 Million Rounds

Minneapolis, February 14, 2005 – ATK (Alliant Techsystems, NYSE: ATK) has received orders worth $54 million from the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, Rock Island, Ill., to continue production of 120mm training ammunition used by the Army’s M1A1/A2 Abrams main battle tank and to continue to provide logistics support for the ammunition.

This is the second annual procurement under a four-year contract with a potential total value of $220 million. Deliveries are slated to begin in December 2005. ATK has been in production of 120mm tank training ammunition for over 25 years with over 3.5 million rounds delivered to the US Army and Marine Corps as well as NATO Allies. Training with live fire ammunition is of strategic importance to the readiness of our troops who have demonstrated their capability in the recent events in Iraq.
