BAE SYSTEMS HIDAS Technology - Experience The Difference AT IDEX 2005

13 Feb 2005

BAE Systems Avionics Group will demonstrate the benefits of its Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System (HIDAS) at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2005) in Abu Dhabi this week.

Helicopter operators will have the opportunity to see for themselves the advantages of HIDASs fully integrated electronic warfare suite by flying virtual missions using the HIDAS comparator flight simulation. They will then be able to fly the same missions virtually using more traditional non-integrated technology.

The unique advantages of being able, through one system, to detect, identify, prioritise and counter threats without the need for crew intervention will be easily seen, demonstrating how HIDAS significantly enhances battlefield survivability.

The HIDAS system uses BAE Systems best of class sensors and its intelligent software controller. It is the worlds first helicopter borne fully integrated defensive aids system and it is already the system of choice for the British Armys Apache Helicopter fleet and is also being fitted to Apaches bought by Kuwait and Greece. HIDAS can be used in automatic, semi-automatic or manual mode greatly increasing situational awareness at times when crew workload is at its highest.

John Hymns, Head of Helicopter Electronic Warfare Campaigns for BAE Systems Avionics said We are delighted that our customers will be able to see for themselves the unique advantages of BAE Systems world class technology.
