BAE SYSTEMS Uncooled Thermal Imaging Technology Keeps Armoured Vehicles Fighting In All Conditions
13 Feb 2005
BAE Systems Avionics Group will demonstrate the benefits of its Drivers Night Vision System (DNVS) at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2005) in Abu Dhabi this week
This system uses state of the art uncooled thermal imaging technology to enhance the operability of an armoured fighting vehicle by providing the driver with optimum vision and improved 24-hour all weather situational awareness for todays battlefield environment.
DNVS has already been selected as the indirect vision system for the UKs new Terrier armoured fighting vehicle and follows its selection for the UK Engineering tank systems, Trojan and Titan. The system offers a significant enhancement in driver visibility in all conditions and is suitable for the majority of vehicles without modification, making it extremely versatile, reliable and user-friendly.
DNVS thermal imaging technology has also been selected by the US for the next generation of individual weapon sights and surveillance and target acquisition systems.
Roy Pilkington, Head of Sales and Marketing, said, Our DNVS System is the only thermal imager selected for use on UK tracked vehicles and we are very proud of its robust and practical capabilities giving our forces the edge in difficult and demanding conditions. We are looking forward to displaying it at IDEX 2005.
