BAE SYSTEMS Exhibits State Of The Art Thermal Imaging Camera At IDEX 2005

13 Feb 2005

BAE Systems Avionics Group will demonstrate its world class, state of the art, thermal imaging camera at the IDEX Exhibition in Abu Dhabi this week.

The high performance camera, known as SiGMA (Sensor Integrated Modular Architecture) provides passive infrared imaging in day, night and poor visibility, for land, sea and airborne operations world-wide. Its high resolution and superior sensitivity enables peace-keepers to detect and identify a full range of threats, 24 hours a day even in poor weather conditions.

SiGMA is operationally proven to be easy to use and quick to integrate and currently offers two versions, the SiGMA Imaging Module Set and SiGMA Caveo. Key to the products success is the high performance digital signal processing electronics designed to readily accommodate a range of detectors (including half TV and full TV formats) in short, medium and long infrared wavebands.

The Full TV Midwave version is currently in full scale production and has already been integrated with numerous surveillance and targeting applications including BAE Systems Titan Multi-Sensor Turret, Mobile Surveillance Units (MSU), NavFLIR and Caveo Ruggedised Thermal Imager. In addition SiGMA has been selected for the upgrade of the Royal Navys gun fire control system, GSA8.

SiGMA will be on display all week at the IDEX Exhibition alongside the BAE Systems Mobile Surveillance Unit.

Roy Pilkington, Head of Sales and Marketing International, said: The SiGMA camera, with a third generation Infra-red sensor, provides our customers with a versatile and proven capability for surveillance and target detection applications.

BAE Systems offers world class Thermal Imaging Systems for air, land and naval systems in both military and civilian applications and has the technology and expertise to offer complete solutions in detectors, digital signal processing, optics and software.
