MND-CS holds change-of-command
ceremony
CAMP ECHO, Iraq - Command of the Multi-National
Division-Central South changed hands in a change-of-command ceremony
here 10:30 a.m., Feb. 7.
Maj. Gen. Adrzej Ekiert was succeeded by Maj. Gen.
Waldemar Skrzypczak.
In his speech to the unit, Ekiert said a great deal of
work has been achieved in every aspect of line of operations since the
third rotation of Soldiers came to Iraq. He also wished Polish
Soldiers who are finishing their rotations a happy return home.
Addressing the Soldiers of fourth rotation, he wished
peaceful service and Soldier's luck while performing their tasks.
In addressing the unit for the first time as the
commander, Skrzypczak assured the Soldiers the most important tasks of
the division are to help and support the Iraqi government and Iraqi
people in their aspirations to ensure security, stabilization and
rebuilding a free and democratic Iraq.
The guests for the ceremony included Gen. George W.
Casey, commanding general of Multi-National Forces-Iraq; Jerzy
Szmajdziński, the Republic of Poland's Minister of Defense; Gen.
Czeslaw Piatas, chief of the general staff for the Polish Armed
Forces; Lt. Gen. Edward Pietrzyk, commander-in-chief of the Land
Forces; Lt. Gen. Thomas Metz, commanding general of Multi-National
Corps-Iraq; and Gen. Aamer Ahmed Al Hashimi, chief of Defense for the
Republic of Iraq.
