ISF out front in matters of
security
MOSUL, Iraq -- Iraqi Regular Army Soldiers detained five people
in northern Iraq Feb. 5.
Iraqi Regular Army Soldiers from the 101st Infantry
Regiment detained four people suspected of terrorist activities in
northern Mosul. While conducting a cordon and search, Iraqi Regular
Army Soldiers from the 104th Infantry Regiment also detained an
individual suspected of terrorist activities in eastern Mosul. The
suspect is in custody with no Iraqi Army injuries reported.
Iraqi Security Forces have stepped up their involvement
in security operations and are conducting numerous independent
operations. In preparation for the elections in Iraq, a great deal of
emphasis was placed on security. That security posture was bolstered
by increased numbers of ISF and their increased capability to provide
security for their country.
ISF have detained numerous terrorists in operations in
the past couple of months and have confiscated a number of weapons and
ammunition.
Multi-National Force commanders laud the independent
operations being carried out by ISF. Officials said the security
partnership between Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Forces is
being strengthened primarily through the increasing strength of the
Iraqi Security Forces.
