DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Kyle W. Childress, 29, of Terre Haute, Ind., died Jan. 21 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds received in Ad Duluiyah, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire. Childress was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
