Bush To Seek $80 Billion For Afghanistan, Iraq
25 January 2005 -- There are reports U.S. President George W. Bush is planning to seek some $80 billion in new funding for military operations this year in Iraq and Afghanistan.
News agencies are quoting unidentified Bush administration and congressional officials as saying the new request will likely be announced later today.
The request would be in addition to $25 billion in emergency spending already approved for this fiscal year. It would put the total for both conflicts to more than 280 billion.
