Samarra, Iraq -- During a joint operation, the 202nd Iraqi Army Battalion conducted a precision raid just north of the Samarra northern bypass on Jan. 18 resulting in the apprehension of 25 detainees.
The 202nd Iraqi Army has been training and performing traffic control point duties in Samarra for months, and they proved during this mission that they are clearly ready for more complex operations.
Acting in cooperation with the 2nd Brigade Reconnaissance Troop and attack aviation, they conducted a precision raid based on intelligence. This is more than just a confidence-building exercise; this is an operation that was turned quickly and produced tangible results.
