Iraqi police capture a top-ten Suspect
Camp Liberty, Baghdad, Iraq -- While conducting patrols in the western Baghdad neighborhood of Hateen, Iraqi police detained a top insurgent suspect at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22.
The suspect was spotted by Iraqi police with two others conducting an illegal traffic control point. The suspect was positively identified by local informants. The man and his two accomplices were taken into custody.
Task Force Baghdad has been tracking this individual for nearly a year.
"We are gradually picking away at the terrorist infrastructure. Everyday we get more and more tips from the Iraqi people who are standing up and identifying these murderers and thugs," said Maj. Web Wright, spokesman for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.
"This is a result of Iraqi police and Multi-National Forces working together toward a common goal, and that goal is freedom," said Lt. Col. Michael Infanti, deputy brigade commander for the 2nd BCT.
All three suspects remain in custody for questioning.
