AIF Ambush Foiled
Tikrit, Iraq - The Ba'qubah Joint Coordination Center quick reaction force and Iraqi Police killed two insurgents and wounded one when approximately 30 individuals attacked the Mufrek police station at about 4:55 p.m., January 19. First Infantry Division Soldiers from Task Force 1-6 Field Artillery linked up with them and assisted with clearing the area and establishing a cordon. Sporadic gun and mortar fire continued. Iraqi Police searched a mosque in Katoon. Sixty-four individuals were detained and one AK-47 was confiscated.
