No talks with U.S, says Taliban chief Mulla Omar
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Jan 20, IRNA -- Taliban Chief Mulla Mohmmad Omar on Thursday rejected any possibility of talks with the United States and said that no talks will be held with Americans unless a single foreign soldier is present in Afghanistan. We want to make it clear to the aggressors and their puppet government that as long as one occupation soldier is on Afghan holy soil, Taliban leadership will not be willing to hold talks with them. We do need such talks, Omar said in a message on the eve of Eid-ul Azha. It is strange that the American forces are not only continuing their occupation of our homeland but they have come up with a claim of having talks with the Taliban for peace, Taliban leader said in one-page Pashto language message received here. He said Taliban are aware what Americans want to achieve under the "pretext of peace and dialogue". The Americans claim that they have opened talks with several moderate Taliban. If they are true in such claim, they should disclose name of at least one among those moderate Taliban so we know who they are and who they represent? We believe that all this is a white lie and the claim is baseless, Omar said and added that Taliban leadership will never bow down to any pressure and slavery of infidels. We are still pursuing our old policy. We believe jihad as the only way for the salvation of Muslims, the Taliban leader said. He said Afghan nation has rendered sacrifices over the past three decades. Once they gave sacrifices against the Red Soviet imperialists and now they are giving sacrifices against the Black Americans. They will continue to give sacrifices. He said the Americans have occupied Afghanistan at a time when the Afghans had not targeted their interests. Afghans were living in their country under an Islamic system. The Americans attacked our homeland. And now they are conspiring to find excuses for their presence in our country. The fraudulent elections are an example of this policy. TK/TSH/1416
