
Soldiers Uncover Explosive Devices in North Babil
Baghdad, Iraq - Task Force Baghdad Soldiers uncovered an improvised explosive device (IED) while patrolling in the north Babil region, south of Baghdad, at 8:45 a.m., Jan. 17.
The Soldiers discovered three IEDs, the first consisted of two 122 mm artillery rounds. Further investigation uncovered two other explosive devices nearby, a 152mm round and, a 125-millimeter shell.
The patrol called for assistance from an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team, which conducted a controlled detonation of the devices at 10:30 a.m.
Soldiers and Marines from Task Force Baghdad continue "Operation Triple Play" in the region, working to improve the security situation in the once-troubled region prior to national elections Jan. 30.
