Multi-National Force Soldiers Detain 23

Mosul, Iraq
-- Multi-National Forces from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), detained 23 individuals during operations in northern Iraq on Jan. 16.

Soldiers of the 3rd Brigade, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, while conducting a cordon and search in western Mosul, detained 16 people suspected of anti-Iraqi activities. Suspects are in custody with no Multi-National Forces injuries reported.

During a cordon and search Multi-National Forces Soldiers detained three individuals suspected of anti-Iraqi activities in eastern Mosul. Suspects are in custody with no Multi-National Forces injuries reported.

Soldiers of the 2nd Brigade, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, conducted a cordon and search south of Mosul resulting in the detainment of two people suspected of anti-Iraqi activities. Suspects are in custody with no Multi-National Forces injuries reported.

Soldiers of the 2nd Brigade, 8th Field Artillery Regiment, detained two people suspected of bombing an oil refinery south of Mosul. The suspects are in custody with no Multi-National Forces injuries reported.

Military officials have said although the Mosul area is not completely safe, but with each seizure and removal of dangerous weapons and detention of anti-Iraqi insurgents the situations is becoming safer. Since Jan. 5 Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Forces have detained 155 people.
