
Multi-National Forces Detain 36 in Early Morning Operations
Tikrit, Iraq - Three separate operations Jan. 16 resulted in the detention of 36 suspected anti-Iraqi forces individuals.
An operation near Hawijah by 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment and Multi-National Forces accounted for 15 of the detainees along with 650,000 Iraqi Dinar and $170 U.S. Suspected of planning attacks against Multi-National Forces, the individuals were taken into custody around 3 a.m. Jan. 16.
Another 1-27 Infantry mission with Iraqi police in Kirkuk, conducted concurrently with the Hawijah mission, accounted for 16 of the total detained.
A third mission by 1st Infantry Division Soldiers from the 82nd Engineer Battalion accounted for the remaining five, who were detained about 5:10 a.m. near Baqubah. The Soldiers transported the individuals to a Coalition detention facility for questioning.
