Six raids net 13 insurgent suspects
Camp Liberty, Baghdad, Iraq - Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team "Commandos", 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), including the 303rd Iraqi National Guard soldiers, conducted six operations in the early morning hours of Jan. 14 in western Baghdad against targeted anti-Iraqi terrorists. The raids were intended to secure and ensure safe and orderly democratic elections for the citizens of Iraq.
Thirteen suspected insurgents were detained for questioning. The Soldiers from the Commando Brigade also found 18 plunger triggers, commonly used by suicide bombers to detonate explosives and an assortment of automatic weapons and ammunition.
These searches included the Al Abass Mosque, which local citizens had said was being used to harbor the terrorists.
"On a daily basis, Iraqis will approach us and provide very valuable information," said Maj. Web Wright, brigade public affairs officer. "The more information we get, the better we can hunt these killers and murderers down."
