Iraqi, U.S. forces Detain Suspected Insurgents, Seize Weapons Caches
 

Camp Blue Diamond, Iraq -- Iraqi Security Forces detained two insurgents and discovered a weapons cache in Fallujah Jan 14. The cache consisted of two PKC machine guns, one RPG launcher and one anti-tank rocket.


Over the past 48 hours, Marines from the 1st Marine Division of the I Marine Expeditionary Force detained 26 suspected insurgents and discovered several weapons caches during operations throughout Al Anbar Province.

The following weapons and munitions were discovered:

(3,500) Anti-aircraft rounds

(13) PG-9 recoilless rifle rounds

(1) Mortar tube, unknown size

(17) 60mm mortar rounds

(2) 60mm mortar base plates

(120) 82mm recoilless rifle rounds

(5) 82mm mortar round

(1) 155mm artillery round

(4) Tank rounds

(1) Large bag of explosives
