
Cavalry Unit Finds Four Weapons caches in Central Baghdad Raids
Baghdad, Iraq -- Task Force Baghdad Soldiers conducted a series of raids in Central Baghdad, finding four separate weapons caches and detaining four suspected insurgents during the five hour mission.
Members of the 1st Cavalry Division's 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, began the raids at 10 a.m., Jan.12.
They discovered weapons and munitions at four different locations, including:
1 bag of .50-caliber ammunition
7 AK-47 assault rifles
35 82-millimeter mortar rounds
1 mortar plate
5 fuses
1 60-millimeter mortar rounds
3 hand grenades
2.3 kilograms of synthetic explosive
No armed resistance was encountered during the operation.
