Marines Uncover Weapons Cache South of Baghdad
Baghdad, Iraq -- Marines attached to Task Force Baghdad conducted a cordon and search operation in the town of Lutayfiyah on Jan. 12, capturing a weapons cache from the residence of suspected insurgents.
Members of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, found a variety of munitions and explosives, including: 2 rocket-propelled grenade launchers, 5 13 mm artillery rounds, 7 122 mm rounds, 1 125 mm round, 1 pre-wired telephone, 5 quarter sticks of TNT, 2 electrical switches, 50 feet of detonation cord, 3 electrical blasting caps and a field phone
No armed resistance was encountered by the Marines during the operation.
