-- Today, Multi-National Force - Iraq forces discovered and cleared ten improvised explosive devices, discovered and cleared 12 weapons caches, conducted ten cordon and searches of suspected anti-Iraqi forces (AIF) facilities, conducted two raids on a suspected anti-Iraqi forces facilities and detained 59 suspected AIF.

Multi-National Forces conducting a cordon and search operation in Mosul detained five suspected anti-Iraq force personnel.

Based on intelligence provided by an Iraqi citizen, Iraqi National Guard Soldiers and Multi-National Forces foiled a car bomb attempt and found a large cache of weapons and munitions today during operations in Mosul.

Based on a tip the units were conducting a cordon and search in Mosul when they discovered a truck wired with explosives. The truck contained 15 artillery rounds, four fuel containers, and a large propane tank. They were able to disarm the vehicle before it was used to harm innocent people.

While searching the area the Iraqi National Guardsmen found a large cache of weapons and munitions which included 93 mines, 88 artillery rounds, 5 rocket propelled grenade launchers, 34 RPG rounds, 17 grenades, 1000 feet of detonation cord, eight AK-47s, over 10,000 rounds of ammunition and roadside bomb-making components. A total of six anti-Iraq forces were detained in the operation.

A joint patrol detained two individuals who were found with anti-Iraq propaganda in their possession.

Multi-National Forces conducting patrol near Fallujah discovered a large weapons cache consisting of anti-armor RPG rounds, RPG propellants, mortar shells, hand grenades and small arms. EOD personnel destroyed the cache in place.

Iraqi Army personnel conducted cordon and search operations in the vicinity of Taji and uncovered a weapons cache consisting of various small arms weapons and ammunition along with mortar primers.

In partnership with the Iraqi government, the Multi-National Force - Iraq conducts full spectrum counter-insurgency operations to isolate and neutralize former regime extremists and foreign terrorists. The Force also organizes, trains and equips Iraqi security forces to create a security environment that allows all Iraqi people to live in peace.
