NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) -- Nearly 45 pilots, air crew, and maintenance personnel of Helicopter Combat Support Special Squadron (HCS) 4, Det. 3, will return to Naval Station Norfolk Jan. 6 after a three month deployment to Iraq.
The "Red Wolves" were forward deployed to an undisclosed base outside Baghdad where they operated their HH-60H Seahawk helicopters supporting Special Warfare Operations missions in the global war on terrorism. The nature of their actual mission was classified but involved striking specific Iraqi insurgent and al-Qaeda targets.
