15 Maoists, 2 security men killed in Nepal

Kathmandu, Dec 6, IRNA) -- At least 15 Maoists and one army personnel were killed in an encounter at Sainbar area near Bhurigaon of Bardia district in west Nepal. According to PTI, the clash occurred after Maoists attacked a team of the Royal Nepal Army`s Thakurdwara Battalion which was trying to clear obstructions on the Kohalput-Chisapani section of the east-west highway yesterday, the state-run Radio Nepal said. One army personnel died and two others were injured in the cross-firing, it said. The Maoists have been blocking the road by cutting down trees and putting other obstacles over the past two weeks. Two passenbers were injured when Maoists indiscriminately fired at a passenger heading towards Kathmandu from Bardia at Mankhola area of Bardia district yesterday, it said. In another incident, two motorbike-riding Maoists shot dead a policeman at a traffic post in Balbari area of Morang district. 2160/2321/1432
