IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 9, 2004

DoD Identifies Marine Casualties

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of two Marines who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

            Lance Cpl. Branden P. Ramey, 22, of Boone, Ill., died Nov. 8 as a result of enemy action in Babil Province, Iraq.   He was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve's 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Chicago, Ill.

            Staff Sgt. David G. Ries, 29, of Clark, Wash., died Nov. 8 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.   He was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve's 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, Portland, Ore.
