BAE SYSTEMS Signs International Agreement With MiKES Of Turkey
29 Nov 2004
BAE Systems North America recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with MiKES, Inc., Ankara, Turkey, for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.
The agreement, signed in September, with MiKES (Mikrodalga Elektronic Sistemler Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S.), is the fourth MOA this year furthering BAE Systems commitment to involve the international partners of the JSF program. The agreements support BAE Systems during the System Development and Demonstration (SDD) and Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) phases of the JSF Electronic Warfare (EW) program. Each MOA establishes an industrial relationship with one supplier for each country.
BAE Systems Information & Electronic Warfare Systems has overall responsibility for the JSF Electronic Warfare system integration.
This MOA is another milestone in meeting the program goals, said Deborah Lenz, BAE Systems JSF EW Program Manager. MiKES will be instrumental in assisting BAE Systems in its continuous efforts to improve the performance, price, and delivery of the aircraft, Lenz added, noting, There are a number of companies worldwide that are participating in the F-35 program. All work associated with the JSF program is competed on a best value basis and exploits the global marketplace for best value solutions to meet the customers needs.
MiKES is a defence electronic design and manufacturing house, specialising in electronic warfare. This MOA includes the assembly of electronic components and the machining of sub-modules and components.
Lockheed Martin Corporation is the prime contractor for the development of the F-35 with BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman. The Joint Strike Fighter F-35 project is sponsored by the JSF Program Office in Arlington, Virginia.
