EADS Rescue Center Improves Slovenian Armed Forces' Medical Capabilities
* Provision for foreign deployments
* NATO-standard Medical Facilities
Friedrichshafen, 18 November 2004
EADS is supplying the Slovenian armed forces with a mobile rescue center, as well as further paramedic equipment and vehicle platforms. EADS Defence Electronics Forces Support Systems are managing the order.
The rescue center is based on the proven “TransHospital” mobile army surgical hospital used by a number of armed forces across the world. As a result, the Slovenian medical services will be supplied with a NATO-standard field hospital. The EADS rescue center permits surgical intervention even under difficult climatic and hygienic conditions. The medical modules for surgery, intensive care, x-ray and ultrasound diagnosis, pharmacy and blood bank, laboratory and sterilization are complemented with patient tents, tent air-conditioning, and electricity generating units.
Bernhard Gerwert, Head of the Defence Electronics Business Unit, noted: “With this one-year order from Slovenia, we have been able to further expand our leading position in the marketplace for mobile medical systems.”
By introducing this rescue center, the Slovenian armed forces aim to adapt their equipment to future foreign deployments within the scope of NATO and the EU. The TransHospital system guarantees interoperability with the medical services of other armed forces. In addition, the modular concept gives the Slovenian customer the opportunity to gradually expand capabilities of the field hospital with further medical facilities.
