Statement by Adam Ereli, Deputy Spokesman
ULSTER DEFENSE ASSOCIATION INITIATIVE
The United States welcomes the announcement by the Ulster Defense Association (UDA) that it will enter into a process to end all paramilitary activity. We also welcome their pledge to re-engage with the Independent International Commission on Decommissioning. We urge all associated with the UDA to follow up with immediate, concrete action. We hope all parties in Northern Ireland will build on the momentum developed in recent months and conclude a comprehensive settlement to restore Northern Ireland's devolved political institutions, including a commitment to use peaceful means to resolve political disputes.
