First Infantry Division Detains 19; Destroy VCIED in Four Different Operations
Tikrit, Iraq -- Soldiers detained 17 individuals during a large search in Yethrib at about 10:30 p.m., on Nov. 10. The search was conducted to kill or capture members of an insurgent IED cell. Those detained were questioned on site.
In a raid in As Siniyah, a individual wanted for weapons trafficking was detained about 6:20 p.m., on Nov.10. Information obtained led to the capture of the wanted individual.
First Infantry Division Soldiers also detained a wanted individual in a raid conducted in Sudayera at about 2 a.m. on Nov 11. Information obtained led to the apprehension and positive identification of the wanted individual. The individual was taken to a Multi-National Forces detention facility.
A vehicle concealed improvised explosive device (VCIED) was discovered in Tikrit at about 5:55 p.m., on Nov. 10. First Infantry Division Soldiers noticed the vehicle parked on the side of the road and requested Iraqi Police assistance with securing the area. Explosives ordnance personnel destroyed the explosives at 9:05 p.m. and cleared the area. There were no injuries or damage to equipment.
