Multi-National Forces Detain Roadside Bomb Cell, Collect Weapons
Mosul, Iraq -- Multi-National Forces from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) detained 13 people for anti-Iraqi activities and collected a variety of weapons and munitions during the last 48 hours in northern Iraq.
Soldiers from the 73rd Engineer Battalion discovered a roadside bomb-making cell attempting to emplace a 155mm device near the side of the road in southern Mosul on Nov. 7. Soldiers quickly engaged the terrorists wounding one and detaining 11 personnel.
A MNF Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded and reduced the device with no MNF injuries reported during the operation.
Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment also conducted a cordon and search in eastern Mosul on Nov. 7 and detained two people wanted for planning and conducting attacks against Multi-National Forces. The suspects are in custody and undergoing questioning. No MNF injuries reported during operations.
On Nov. 6, Soldiers from the 293rd Military Police Company discovered a large cache of munitions and accessories hidden in a vehicle. The cache consisted of mortar rounds, propane tanks, mortar tubes and cash. The vehicle and munitions were confiscated.
