General Dynamics Chosen to Upgrade Voice and Data Networks at the United States Military Academy
NEEDHAM, Mass. – General Dynamics Network Systems has been chosen by the U.S. Army to upgrade the voice, video, and data network infrastructure at the United States Military Academy – West Point. This project is valued at $12.5 million if all options are exercised. General Dynamics Network Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (GD).
This award is part of the Army’s Installation Information Infrastructure Program (I3MP). I3MP is the Army’s multi-year initiative to upgrade all of its installations worldwide with greater bandwidth to address increasing demands for voice, video, and data services. Under this contract, General Dynamics will install a network with the same bandwidth and access to the Army’s Global Information Grid (GIG) as that of other Army installations around the world.
The project was competitively awarded under the General Services Administration’s Connections contract. General Dynamics teamed with Information Systems Support (ISS), a prime Connections contractor, to develop the successful proposal for West Point. As the prime contractor, ISS, located in Gaithersburg, Md., (www.issconnections.com) has project management oversight.
“General Dynamics is honored to be the working with the Army and its premier educational institution on such a critical program,” said Vic Lanio, the General Dynamics vice president responsible for the contract. “As an integrated team, we will deliver a superior voice and data network to the faculty and cadets at West Point.”
This award continues General Dynamics Network Systems’ long legacy of providing network infrastructure solutions to the Army worldwide. The company is working on current voice and data network projects in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Iraq.
