BAE SYSTEMS To Upgrade Power Supplies For Combat Aircraft

20 Oct 2004

BAE Systems recently received a $12.2 million contract to provide low-voltage power supplies to refit its AN/ALR-56C systems. The ALR-56C provides radar warning and situation awareness for the U.S. and Saudi Air Forces F-15 C/D/E aircraft.

The ALR-56C, is part of the fighter aircraft's integrated Tactical Electronic Warfare System. These next-generation power supplies will replace 20-year-old power supplies currently on board the F-15 fleet.

These power supplies will reduce maintenance costs and help the Air Force meet future operational requirements, said Ken Bond, ALR-56C program manager. BAE Systems in Yonkers, New York, designed and has produced the ALR-56C radar warning receiver since 1975.

Under the contract, BAE Systems will test and assemble more than 625 power supplies. Manufacture of the power supplies will be performed by a subcontractor, Keltec, a Crane Aerospace company in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

More than 900 ALR-56C systems have been produced and are deployed worldwide.

Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia awarded the contract to BAE Systems September 20.
