U.S. Continues Assault On Al-Fallujah
15 October 2004 -- The U.S. military is continuing its offensive against insurgents in the Iraqi city of Al-Fallujah.
Warplanes bombed more targets in the city this morning, in what the military said were strikes against associates of the Jordanian militant Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi.
Reports said five people were killed and 16 wounded in the strikes, which also included an artillery barrage.
Al-Zarqawi's group claimed responsibility for two explosions inside Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone yesterday that killed at least five people.
The U.S. military carries out almost daily air raids on Al-Fallujah. Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi this week told the city's residents to hand over al-Zarqawi and his followers or face a major military operation.
