MNF-I targets Zarqawi network in multiple operations
Fallujah, Iraq - Since October 14, Combined Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Force-Iraq elements conducted several operations in and near Fallujah in order to disrupt preparations for terrorist attacks by Anti-Iraqi Forces.
Operations included a range of weapon systems including armored vehicles, artillery, helicopters and strike aircraft.
Iraqi Security Forces and the Multi-National Force-Iraq coordinated their actions to locate, isolate, and defeat terrorist groups operating in the area of Fallujah.
The operation commenced the afternoon of October 14 with precision air strikes and continued with close air support and troop transport for Marines, Soldiers and Iraqi forces in the operation.
The operations were designed to target the large terrorist element operating in the area of Fallujah. This element has been planning to use the holy month of Ramadan for attacks against against the IIG and innocent Iraqis.
Operations in Fallujah will continue so long as terrorists remain in the city.
In addition to Fallujah, the Iraqi and Multi-National forces are continuing operations throughout the country to stop the terrorists and criminals who continue to attack the Iraqi people, Iraqi Security Forces and the Iraqi government.
