Thales joins network-centric operations industry consortium (NCOIC)

06 October 2004

Thales has become a member of the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC). The aim of the NCOIC is to establish a collaborative forum that brings together the best of industry in order to recommend a communications and information architectural approach that systems and platform developers may follow in order to enable each to participate in a global network environment. Thales joined the consortium as a Tier 1 member to contribute its vast expertise in developing architectures and open standards for information and communication systems. Thales approach is fully in line with the strategic vision of the consortium.

"For Thales, joining the NCOIC is a natural extension of our efforts in the area of network-centric warfare," said Martin Van Schaik, Vice president and Director of Thales Battlespace Transformation Centre (BTC), "Thales membership in NCOIC brings significant added-value based on its world-leading expertise in designing and implementing interoperable network-centric solutions. Knowledge sharing will benefit all members of the consortium and their future customers".

Thales multi-division federated Integration Centre (TIC) is aimed at creating a new partnership with the Group's customers, as the TIC is driving concept development and experimentation activities along with the customers.

Thales Battlespace Transformation Centre draws on know-how and experience across the worldwide Thales Group and provides unparalleled expertise in operational analysis and systems architecture to support its customers in the transformation of their operational concepts. To reach the objectives of transformation and adapt to the new challenges of network-centric operations, Thales provides a comprehensive range of C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computing, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) solutions.
