Strike on Zarqawi Network

Camp Fallujah, Iraq
-- At approximately 1 a.m. local time, Oct. 4, Multi-National Force-Iraq conducted a precision strike against a building where approximately 25 Anti-Iraqi Forces network members were moving weapons on the outskirts of Fallujah.

Intelligence sources confirmed that AIF were using this position to store weapons and conduct training in order to disrupt the efforts of local Iraqi Security Forces, as well as to harass the local populace. AIF are reported to have links to local terrorist elements, specifically the Abu Musab al-Zarqawi terrorist network.

Based on analysis of multiple intelligence reports, MNF-I accurately targeted this building while protecting the lives of innocent civilians. Throughout the operation, multiple measures were employed to ensure no innocent civilians were present when the strikes took place.

MNF-I efforts to rid Fallujah of AIF, foreign terrorists and their supporters continue to make progress. This strike reduced the capability of the Zarqawi network and increased safety and security throughout Iraq.
