General Dynamics Receives $31 Million in Stryker-Related Contracts

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), two contracts totaling $31.3 million for work related to the Army’s Stryker family of eight-wheeled combat vehicles.

A $10.1 million modification to an existing contract was awarded for contractor logistics support for the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. Work will be performed in Sterling Heights, Mich. (4 percent); Auburn, Wash. (25 percent); Ontario, Canada (25 percent); Germersheim, Germany (5 percent); Iraq (40 percent); and Kuwait (1 percent).

In addition, a $21.2 million modification to an existing contract also was awarded for Stryker slat deployment armor support. Work will be performed in Lima, Ohio, (85 percent); Shelby Township, Mich. (5 percent); Fort Wainwright, Alaska (3 percent); Fort Lewis, Wash. (2 percent); and Fort Irwin, Calif. (5 percent).

All work on both contracts is expected to be completed by September 30, 2005.

Stryker is a family of eight-wheel drive armored combat vehicles that can travel at speeds up to 62 mph on highways, with a range of 312 miles. They operate with the latest C4ISR equipment as well as detectors for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Stryker vehicle configurations include the nuclear, chemical and biological reconnaissance vehicle; anti-tank guided missile and medical evacuation vehicles; and carriers for mortars, engineer squads, infantry squads, command groups, and fire support teams.
