IRAQI NATIONAL GUARD COMMANDER ARRESTED
Tikrit, Iraq - The 32nd Iraqi National Guard commander, Brigadier General Talib Abd Ghayib Al Lahibi, was detained by Multi-National Forces September 23rd for having associations with known insurgents. Talib was appointed to the command position, considered an interim position until the Interim Iraqi Government confirmed his appointment.
Talib was one of five candidates nominated to be the Diyala Province ING commander. He was responsible for leading the Diyala province ING soldiers in providing security for this region. His command included three battalions: the 204th, 205th and 206th .
Talib is a former Iraqi Army Lieutenant General Infantry Officer who served as a commander during the Iraq/Iran War. He was an instructor at the Military College in Baghdad . He commanded troops in Mosul during the fall of Saddam Hussein's Regime. Talib is currently in Multi-National Forces-Iraq control.
