FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RAMADI IN THE PATH OF 'OPERATION HURRICANE II'
CAMP BLUE DIAMOND, Iraq - Multi-National Force-Iraq continued clearing operations to discover and remove illegal weapons and ammunition caches and to disrupt the Daham terrorist network in Ramadi Sept. 18.
"Operation Hurricane II," which began at 3 a.m., involved Soldiers and Marines from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Marine Division.
The Daham terrorist network is responsible for a wide spectrum of terrorist and criminal activities against the Iraqi people and the Multi-National Forces-Iraq in the Al Anbar Province.
The operation follows Operation Hurricane I, which occurred Sept. 16 in a different section of the town, and resulted in the detention of four suspected Anti-Iraqi Forces members, the removal of six improvised explosive devices and the confiscation of IED making materials, including cell phone parts.
"Operation Hurricane II" was performed under the laws of the Iraqi Interim Government, and every effort was made to minimize collateral damage and protect innocent civilians.
