General Dynamics Awarded Defense Contract for Engineering Services

ARLINGTON, VA – General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has been selected by the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) to provide engineering services under the Advanced Technology Support Program III. The indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity multiple-award contract has a maximum potential value of $4.7 billion over 15 years if all options are exercised. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). The award was announced by the Department of Defense on Sept. 8.

The Advanced Technology Support Program III is designed to resolve problems with obsolete, unreliable, unmaintainable, or underperforming electronics hardware and software through the development of advanced technology insertions and applications to fielded systems. These insertions and applications help customers maximize the productive life of previous investments in technology. As a fast-track contracting vehicle, the program shortens the procurement cycle from months to weeks and gives immediate access to competitively pre-qualified contractors. Engineering activities under this contract award will range from technical studies and analysis to prototype development and limited production.

General Dynamics and its legacy companies have supported DMEA since 1989 through three similar, previous contracts.

“General Dynamics offers leading-edge technologies and engineering expertise across the full spectrum of strategic, operational and tactical applications,” said Michael Fraser, vice president and general manager of Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. “Through this program we will help our customers reshape yesterday’s microelectronics technology to meet the transformational fighting force needs of today and the future.”

The General Dynamics’ Advanced Technology Support Program III program office is in Bloomington, Minn.
