FIGHTING CONTINUES IN EASTERN BAGHDAD

BAGHDAD -- Multiple engagements between Multi-National Forces and Iraqi insurgents took place today in the Al Thawra district of Eastern Baghdad.

At about 12:30 a.m., a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) round was fired at Task Force Baghdad Soldiers resulting in no injuries or damages.

At about 1 a.m., an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in an attack that resulted in no injuries or damage.

At about 1:30 a.m. a Task Force Baghdad Soldier was injured in an RPG attack.

At about 2:30 a.m. a Task Force Baghdad Soldier was injured in an RPG attack.

At about 8 a.m., an IED detonated in an attack that resulted in no injuries or damage.

At about 9:30 a.m., Soldiers came under attack while waiting for an explosive ordnance disposal team at the site of a possible IED. One Soldier was killed and two Soldiers were injured in the attack (as reported earlier in Media Release 040907g).

At about 10 a.m., five IEDs detonated in an attack that resulted in no injuries. A vehicle was damaged in the attack.

At about 10:30 a.m. an RPG was fired at Task Force Baghdad Soldiers resulting in no injuries or damages.

At about 11:30 a.m. a Task Force Baghdad Soldier was injured when an IED was detonated.

At about 12 p.m., an IED detonated in an attack that resulted in no injuries. A vehicle was damaged in the attack.

At about 12:30 p.m. an Anti-Iraqi Forces mortar impacted near a school resulting in no injuries to Task Force Baghdad Soldiers or damage to equipment.

The name of the Soldier killed is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incidents are under investigation.
