Terrorists attack Mosul city center killing one Iraqi police officer, injuring 18
Mosul, Iraq - Terrorists attacked the Mosul city center Wednesday with four mortars killing one Iraqi police officer and wounding another. Also injured in the attack were 17 civilians.
The attack happened just before noon in downtown Mosul. Mortars hit near the city government building, but according to Col. Khalid Hassan Ahmad, staff officer of operations at the Joint Coordination Center, did not damage the structure.
Iraqi police immediately responded to the scene, securing the area while firefighters treated the injured. Wounded civilians were transported to the Al Jamhouri Hospital in Mosul.
Local citizens are urged to provide any information that leads to the capture and arrest of the terrorists responsible for Wednesday's attacks. Anyone with information is urged to call the Joint Coordination Center in Mosul at 125 or (060 when calling from Baghdad) 513462.
The Joint Coordination Center opened June 23 in the Ninevah Province and is the emergency call center -- 125 --for all Iraqi security forces in northern Iraq. A representative from every security force element -- Iraqi National Guard, Iraqi Police, Facility Protection Services and Iraqi Armed Forces -- is stationed in the Mosul JCC to respond to emergencies precisely and effectively.
