  • MNF responds to anti-Iraqi forces attacks MNF-I/MNC-I 25 Sep 2004 -- Anti-Iraqi Forces from within the city of Fallujah fired upon Multi-National Forces-Iraq operating near the city limits at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 25.
  • Security team finds IED along major oil pipeline MNF-I/MNC-I 25 Sep 2004 -- A private security company responsible for pipeline security discovered an improvised explosive device along a major oil pipeline west of Balad Sept. 24.
  • MNF precision strike destroys Zarqawi meeting place MNF-I/MNC-I 25 Sep 2004 -- At 10:04 PM local Baghdad time, Multi-National Force - Iraq conducted a successful precision strike against the Abu Musab al Zarqawi terrorist network destroying a primary meeting place.
  • IRAQ / WRAP VOA 25 Sep 2004 -- U.S. military forces have been carrying out targeted attacks in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, as part of a continuing effort to wipe out a terrorist group believed responsible for numerous car bombings and kidnappings. At least seven people were killed, and more than a dozen others wounded. In the meantime, a wave of kidnappings in Iraq continues.
  • U.S. Forces Strike Insurgent Stronghold In Iraq RFE/RL 25 Sep 2004 -- U.S. aircraft and tanks launched a new strike on the restive city of Al-Falluja today. The U.S. military said the attack targeted supporters of a Jordanian militant who has led a campaign of suicide bombings and kidnappings in Iraq. But doctors in Al-Falluja said at least seven civilians were killed and 13 wounded, including women and children.
  • Fighting Kills 21 In Baghdad, Al-Fallujah RFE/RL 25 Sep 2004 -- At least 21 people, including four U.S. soldiers, were killed today in fighting between U.S. forces and Islamic militants in Al-Fallujah, Anbar Province, and in the center of the capital Baghdad.

  • Afghan Violence Kills Nine; Further Attacks Feared RFE/RL 25 Sep 2004 -- An Afghan official says insurgents launched a string of attacks on three security posts in southern Afghanistan today, killing nine soldiers, while a U.S. military spokesman warned of more violence aimed at disrupting elections.
  • AFGHANISTAN/ELECTION VIOLENCE VOA 25 Sep 2004 -- The top U.S military commander in Afghanistan is warning of more violence, aimed at disrupting the landmark presidential election set for October 9th. The warning comes as insurgents are reported to have killed nine Afghan soldiers in southern Afghanistan.

  • NIGERIA / UNREST VOA 25 Sep 2004 -- Police say up to 30 armed militants have been killed as a result of clashes in Nigeria's mountainous border region with Cameroon. The militants have been targeting police stations and stealing weapons, but the police commissioner from the area says the situation is now under control.
