VBIED KILLS THREE, WOUNDS THIRTEEN
BAGHDAD, Iraq - A vehicle improvised explosive device detonated at approximately 9:45 a.m. near a checkpoint at a Task Force Baghdad forward operating base in western Baghdad. One Task Force Baghdad Soldier was killed and three other Soldiers were injured in the attack. Two Iraqi Police were killed, and 10 Iraqis were wounded in the attack. A Bradley Fighting Vehicle was damaged in the attack.
"This despicable act killed not only a Multi-National Force Soldier, but Iraqis who were merely going about their business of defending this country," said Lt. Col. James Hutton, a 1st Cavalry Division spokesman. "The terrorists offer nothing but destruction."
The name of the Soldier killed is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident is under investigation
